Our government-approved 4-year-old kinder program is for children aged 4 to 5 years old.
At 4-year-old Kinder, a degree qualified early childhood teacher provides your child with an individualised program which will help them to develop the skills and dispositions that will support their readiness for school.
This includes over 600 hours of curriculum with a focus on numeracy and literacy. But preparation for school is more than ABCs and 123s. The learning outcomes support children’s development socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. At this level children complete individual tasks, embark on long-term projects and develop respectful friendships with peers. Independence and self-help skills are further developed including going to the toilet on their own and picking up their childcare bag at the end of the day.
Excursions are included at this level, where kinder children visit places such as the community garden, the library, aquarium, movies, Zoo, aged care homes and local services like the fire department – we encourage parents to join in on our outings if they have the time.
The kinder outdoor area
The outdoor area includes for our three kinder rooms is combined and includes its own sandpit, social and activity sitting areas, a water play area and a mud play area, and our unique ‘mud kitchen’ cubby house complete with a kitchen sink.
The family owners understand the importance of heritage and old fashioned values and they are passionate about the need for a re-connection with outdoor activities that link children with each other and with nature, to counterbalance the increased time children are spending on electronic devices.
The kinder outdoor area has a range of vegie patches and is lined by fruit trees. It is here we find further physical challenges with ladders, climbing equipment and slides.
Our government-approved 3-year-old kinder program is for the children aged 3 to 4 years and is held in our kinder 1 and kinder 2 rooms.
Our 3-year-old kinder program has been developed to foster a sense of independence in areas such as learning to dress themselves and developing the social skills required to develop friendships with peers. This is the time children are beginning to explore new ideas and concepts.
Our program specifically caters to children’s developing interests and incorporates developmental objectives which support them as they continue into the 4-year-old kindergarten program.
The 3-year-old kinder outdoor area is combined with the 4-year-old kinder. See description below.
Our toddler rooms are for children from 25 months to 3 years of age. We have two toddler’s rooms – our Blue Bells toddlers room and our Bottlebrushes toddlers room.
The toddlers rooms have been designed to accommodate the developing curiosities and strengths of toddlers. When children move from the babies and walkers rooms they find a completely new universe of toys, furniture and outdoor experiences.
Our toddler program focuses on developing children’s confidence and physical abilities while supporting their developing social skills. The toddlers room introduces additional choice for children with a reading corner, art and craft activity area, imaginative play area, social and meeting area.
The outdoor area for toddlers includes a cubby house, a greater range of veggies, an open play area, bike racks, winding path, sandpit and an introduction to outdoor climbing resources. These provide a greater level of challenge and independence.
We have nurseries and walker rooms for children aged 6 weeks to 24 months that include a separate kitchen area for formula preparation and storage of milk. These spaces are focused on stimulating the five senses and encouraging a sense of curiosity. Our specialist educators are right beside each child, encouraging and supporting them as they reach some of their first developmental milestones.
The babies room, Kangaroo Paws, is for children aged 6 weeks to 12 months old. The babies room has its own special outdoor area where each baby is assisted by our team to explore the outdoors which includes grass and pavement areas cushioned for safety.
In the adjoining room to our babies room is our walkers room which we call Lilly Pillies. Everything in the walkers room has been designed to promote safe movement and exploration. Outside we find a sandpit and veggie patch which children can come and go from as they choose.
As children transition from room to room, they will find new age and developmentally—appropriate challenges, furniture, activities, toys, adventures and outside areas. Each room builds on and progresses a child’s independence, decision-making, problem-solving and social skills.
We provide ongoing support to assist you and your child through the transition between each room and then the exciting transition to primary school. This includes a range of orientation experiences and close engagement with family and local schools.
Happy Sprouts also houses three further specialist rooms. In these specialised spaces, educators are able to observe and nurture emerging interests, strengths and passions.
